SYNOPSIS

The film tells the story of the musical friendship between veteran musician/filmmaker André Luiz Oliveira and Lorenzo Barreto, a boy with autism, over 15 years.

STATEMENT FROM THE FILM DIRECTOR

“Invited by music therapist Clarisse Prestes to record Lorenzo’s first session, I was impressed by his musical qualities contrasting with his enormous psychomotor difficulties. The impact of this experience on me was definitive. Lorenzo was 4 years old and I didn’t stop filming him until I was 19. Without any idea of what I was going to do, much less that it would result in a feature-length film, I continued recording these meetings that were extremely valuable for me and consequently for his structural development”.

THE DIRECTOR

André Luiz Oliveira

Filmmaker, musician, screenwriter, he made short, medium-length and feature films, as well as musical shows and soundtracks for films. In 1969 he directed his first feature film “Meteorango Kid the Intergalactic Hero”. In 1975, “The Legend of Ubirajara”. In 1994 he returned with “Louco por Cinema”; in 2009 the doc/fiction “Sagrado Segredo”. From 2009 onwards, the cycle of documentaries began: “Cozinheiro do Tempo – Bené Fonteles” (2009), “Mário Cravo, O Ferreiro de Exu” (2012, “Zirig Dum Brasília – A Arte e o som de Renato Matos” (2014) ,”The Other Side of Memory” (2018) with Rama de Oliveira “Myth and Music – A Mensagem de Fernando Pessoa” (2019). In 2020 he returns to fiction with “Ecos do Silêncio” and in 2023 the documentary “Meu amigo Lorenzo ”. André is from Bahia and lives in Brasília, Brazil.

THE MUSIC THERAPIST

Clarisse

Graduated in Artistic Education with specialization in Music, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Postgraduate in music therapy from FEPECS, through Instituto Vida Una in 2007. Specialized in ASD – Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disorders. She has participated in several conferences in Brazil and other countries, always addressing the topic of Autism. Clarisse is from Rio Grande do Sul and lives in Brasília, Brazil.

THE PRODUCER

Carina Bini

Film producer and director, graduated in Journalism from UEL-PR; in 1998 she studied cinema in India; in 2011 she studied screenwriting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Rome. She produced the award-winning feature Myth and Music – The Message of Fernando Pessoa, by André Luiz Oliveira and Rama de Oliveira. In the editing phase of her first feature film, she is preparing to film the documental series “As Pajés”. She has been organizing the International Cinema and Transcendence Festival for 10 years. Carina is from Paraná and lives in Brasília, Brazil.
